Sensei Gene Monteleone, 5th Dan

Sensei Monteleone began his study of Aikido in 1976 with Shihan Ed Hagihara on Long Island. Gene holds the rank of 5th Dan and a Shidoin instructor certificate from the Aikikai Hombu Dojo. He and his wife Deb established Aikido at Suffolk Aikikai in 1994. Gene is a full time certified personal trainer.
Sensei Deb Monteleone, 3rd Dan
Instructor
Deb began her study of Aikido in 1990 with Shihan Ed Hagihara. Deb holds the rank of 3rd Dan and a Fukushidoin instructor certificate from the Aikikai Hombu Dojo. She met Gene on the mat in 1991 and they married soon after. She is a full time computer programmer. Deb also has a personal trainer certificate and is a certified Pilates Mat instructor.
Jim Murray, 3rd Dan
Jim began his study of Aikido in 1990 with Shihan Ed Hagihara. Jim was a charter member in the establishment of Aikido at Suffolk Aikikai in 1994. Jim holds the rank of 3rd Dan. He is a retired New York City Police Officer.
Kris Murray, 2nd Dan
Kris began her study of Aikido in 1989 with Shihan Ed Hagihara. Kris was a charter member in the establishment of Aikido at Suffolk Aikikai in 1994. Kris holds the rank of 2nd Dan. She is an MTA Police Sergeant.
Tim Regan, 2nd Dan
Tim began his study of Aikido in 1991 with Shihan Ed Hagihara. Tim, his wife Christine and their two sons joined us at Suffolk Aikikai in January of 2004. Tim holds the rank of 2nd Dan. Tim is a school administrator and part time basketball official.
All the instructors and students at Suffolk Aikikai are encouraged to attend seminars and camps to learn from other senior Aikido Instructors, thereby increasing their knowledge of the Art, and being exposed to different viewpoints and styles in the application of the Art of Aikido.
